Desert Maternity Session at Ghost Ranch, New Mexico
Golden hour at Ghost Ranch is so dreamy. Red cliffs, soft desert grass, and wide-open stillness. It’s no wonder that Georgia O'Keeffe found so much inspiration here.
This sweet family from New York met me at the cabin near the main entrance to the property. Because this area is elevated, it provides a perfect vantage point for the sweeping desert views. As always, we started with simple movement, like walking, tickling, and playing. When toddlers are present for maternity sessions, I always like to give them a break and take the opportunity to get some solo shots of mom. For this session, Sarah wore a client closet dress by Reclamation Design.
As the sun dipped lower, we shifted into some intimate poses of just the couple, and the sky gave us a beautiful peach glow over Pedernal, Abiquiu's iconic flat-top mountain. Ghost Ranch is one of my favorite locations for a reason—it gives you space to move, to breathe, and to just be in it.
