From the foothills to the nursery
One of my favorite ways to document a growing family is through a maternity and newborn photography collection. Photographing both sessions allows the story to unfold naturally—from the anticipation of pregnancy to the quiet beauty of welcoming a baby home.
For Elena’s maternity session, we met in the Albuquerque foothills just before sunset. The trail still had some snow, so we moved to patches of golden prairie grass to add warmth to the imagery. As the sun dropped lower, the foothills filled with that unmistakable New Mexico desert glow, giving the images a timeless, luminous feel.
A few weeks later, I joined Elena at her home in Albuquerque for an in-home newborn session. The wraps we chose for the baby complemented the neutral tones of the home, creating a calm and cohesive feel throughout the photographs.
In-home newborn sessions are always special—they capture those early days exactly as they are: quiet, intimate, and full of small moments that quickly become memories. Plus, being in the home allows us to feature personal details like the nursery, linens, and a range of outfits.
