Exploring the trails at nine months pregnant
Shayla and Stephen are expecting their first child, a baby girl, any week now, so imagine my surprise and delight when they were down to hike to some of my favorite areas in the Galisteo Basin Preserve. By going off trail, we were able to find some privacy and some unique backdrops to showcase Shayla's gorgeous nine-month belly. I especially loved this chalky slot canyon, which framed the couple beautifully.
As we rose up out of the arroyo, the sun was just setting behind the basin's iconic ridgeline. Shayla's white dress popped against the earthy rust and sage. We finished at a small oasis by the trailhead, which had frozen over the week before. Venus rose up behind Shayla, creating a truly ethereal scene at this stunning location.
