Canyon Glow in the Rio Grande del Norte
On one of the coldest weekends of the year, Dave and Katherine met me at a beautiful trailhead near the Taos Junction Bridge. We had originally planned on the Gorge Bridge, another favorite Taos location, but this trail stole their hearts for the unique perspective of the canyon. And mine, too.
In winter, the Rio Grande runs clear and blue, and patches of bulbous ice collect in slow-moving water We ascended from the river up a gentle trail bordered by golden chamisa, as the iconic dark canyon walls rose up around us. Like a spotlight, the sun filled the canyon with a golden glow, allowing me to play with flare and rim light.
This is definitely a new favorite location, perfectly situated between Santa Fe and Taos. I look forward to another session here soon. Congratulations, Dave and Katherine!
